A rare opportunity to experience the beauty, simplicity, and freedom of living close to the earth

This is an authentic Finnish cottage retreat in the heart of nature. Expect forest paths, lake swims, sauna heat, birdsong, open skies, fresh air, and the kind of silence that has become rare in modern life.

What to expect

We'll stay at our private family cottage on Lake Saimaa, surrounded by wilderness and far from the distractions of everyday life. Days will include guided reflection, meaningful conversations, time in nature, shared meals, sauna, swimming, and plenty of space to rest, journal, create, or simply be.

The programme is intentionally spacious. Rather than filling every hour with activities, we'll create the conditions for clarity, inspiration, and deeper connection with yourself to emerge naturally.

Accommodation is simple yet comfortable. A limited number of private rooms are available, with additional shared accommodation options. Bedding is provided.

August weather can vary from warm sunshine and swimming days to cool evenings, rain showers, and misty mornings. We embrace nature as it is and adapt accordingly.

There is no Wi-Fi, although shared mobile internet is available. There is no running water in the cottage, and we use a traditional outdoor toilet. Electricity is limited and powered by solar energy.

These simple conditions become part of the gift of the retreat, creating space to slow down, disconnect from constant stimulation, and listen more deeply. A rare opportunity to experience the beauty, simplicity, and freedom of life lived close to the earth, while reconnecting with your true nature and what is wanting to emerge next in your life.

The forests, lakes, and silence of Finland have shaped me deeply. Whenever life has felt noisy, confusing, or overwhelming, nature has helped me find my way back to what truly matters.

This retreat is an invitation into that experience. Over five days, I'll guide us through a journey of slowing down, reconnecting with ourselves, and listening for what is wanting to emerge. Together we'll share sauna, lake swims, meals cooked over the fire, meaningful conversations, and time in nature, creating the space for greater clarity, inspiration, and connection to your true nature and next steps.

What will we do during the retreat?

The retreat combines spaciousness with opportunities for connection, reflection, and adventure. Depending on weather and group wishes, activities may include paddling, kayaking, forest walks, swimming, sauna, guided reflective exercises, meaningful conversations, and time to rest, create, or simply be and enjoy.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Accommodation is in our private family cottage by the lake, creating a cosy and communal retreat experience. Both private and shared accommodation options are available, with participants choosing their preferred option in the order bookings are received.

What about food?

All meals (vegetarian or vegan, gluten free) are included. We'll prepare food together as part of the experience, enjoying the simplicity and connection that comes from sharing meals in nature. Whenever possible, we'll cook over an open fire. If there is a fire ban due to dry conditions, we'll cook on a gas stove or indoors instead.

How connected to the modern world will we be?

Part of the retreat experience is stepping away from constant convenience and digital stimulation. There is no Wi-Fi, although shared mobile internet is available. The cottage does not have running water, and we use a traditional outdoor toilet. Electricity is limited and powered by solar energy. These simple conditions become a refreshing reminder of how little we actually need in order to feel connected, inspired, and alive.

What should I bring?

A detailed packing list will be sent before the retreat. Comfortable outdoor clothing, layers for changing weather, swimwear, slippers and good walking shoes are the main essentials. Bedding is provided.

How do I get there?

The retreat takes place at our private family cottage on Lake Saimaa in Puumala, Finland. Once you've booked, I'll provide everything you need to plan your journey smoothly.

To make the most of the retreat, I recommend arriving in Helsinki the evening before the retreat begins. This allows for a relaxed journey to the cottage on the first day, so you can settle in and start enjoying the experience right away.

Pick-up from a nearby town can be arranged upon arrival, with drop-off available after the retreat.

Some luxuries cannot be bought in a hotel. A lake with no one else around. A sauna at sunset. The sound of the wind in the trees. Space to reconnect with yourself. These are the rare riches of living close to nature.
